A Non-Profit Organization

Welcome to Strive Incorporated

Strive, Inc. is established for the purpose of assuring people with developmental disABILITIES the opportunity for life-enriching experiences in work, in play and wherever they live, by providing a continuum of programs and services.

Since its founding in October 1963, the Sophie Gumbel Guild has afforded opportunities for persons with mental retardation to grow and to develop. The Guild formally changed its name to Strive, Inc. in 1996. The facility-based program Strive Center began its operations with a pilot program in a small rented cottage in 1972 with 14 clients. Strive Center operates in a large building at 1139 Napoleon Avenue and now serves 100 clients in a diversified program of job related training, facility based work and supported employment. In addition Strive, Inc. sponsors residential and recreational programs.
