act_006Since its founding in October 1963, the Sophie Gumbel Guild has afforded opportunities for persons with intellectual and developmental disABILITIES (IDD) to grow and to live to their fullest. The Guild formally changed its name to Strive, Inc. in 1996.  The Strive Center began its operations with a pilot program in a small rented cottage in 1972 with 14 clients.  Today Strive Center is located in two stately buildings at 1139 Napoleon Avenue in the charming Uptown New Orleans Historic District and serves 100 adult clients ages 19 years and older in diversified programs of job-related training, facility-based work, and supported employment.  In addition, Strive, Inc. provides residential and recreational programs.
